Colac bay to riverton

At Colac Bay the bus stops face away from the road!

Cool and overcast as I walked away along the beach this morning. Stewart Island crouched on the horizon. 

The tide got in my way a bit so I used wee trails near the dunes and was rewarded with this lovely plant, which I can't identify. 

A bit further along I climbed away from Tihaka Beach around rocky cliffs through paddocks and past intriguing wee bays.

Eventually the trail shoots uphill into a bush remnant and, hey presto, there's Riverton.

Downhill to civilisation, or at least, signage... you mean I don't have to puzzle out the way any more?

High tide will be inconveniently 1300hrs tomorrow, when I have nearly 30km to walk on Oreti Beach. Early start, I guess.
